Every Day an Essie! - Essie Showstopper

I am not terribly happy with the photo, because Essie Showstopper is a great medium red with tons of gold shimmer that is really a knockout. It's got a bluish tone, not an orange one. It's a keeper, IMO!

Every Day an Essie! - Essie Damsel In a Dress

Damsel in a Dress is quite lovely. It's a dark reddish purple with a slight silver shimmer for pizazz. I think it's very hot.

Every Day an Essie! - Essie Garnet

This is sort of a medium red jelly. I have NEVER seen a garnet this color, but I think the polish is quite nice. A layer of polish then a layer of glitter then another layer of polish might be pretty hot. Or a topcoat like OPI Thrills in Beverly Hills.

Orly Once Upon a Time Collection!

I no sooner heard about this in an email than it was in my hot little hands! I can't find info on it anywhere on Orly's site, so I have no real information other than what it says on the box. It says "6 Pix from the Once Upon a Time Color Collection". So I don't know if there are more, if this is Fall or Winter, or what. "Once Upon a Time... Orly's collection of modern nail lacquer shades, inspired by the darkness and drama of classic fairy tale stories". Update: This is a Fall 2009 Collection that comes out in September!

The collection pretty much does bring out that feeling for me. It is a change from the brighter more jeweled colors and mattes being offered. It has a typical decent Orly formula, I had a few mishaps but nothing horrible. The colors are richly pigmented and except for Pixie Dust, were easily two coat perfect. It's a nice palette of cool tones, a chocolate brown creme, a medium red jelly, a light grey creme, a light bluish grey shimmer jelly, a dark bluish green fir tree colored creme, and a dark pomegranate with purple shimmer.

Prince Charming, a sort of melted chocolate ice cream colored creme. Not my idea of Prince Charming, but it meshes with the collection nicely. Manages not to look like poo.
Orly Prince Charming:

Mirror Mirror is a light grey creme that really floats my boat. Apparently I have a grey fetish where other people have a green fetish, I am coming to learn. That suits me just fine. I love this color. Reminds me of urban camo.
Orly Mirror Mirror:
Orly Mirror Mirror

Poison Apple is my least favorite. It is simply not apple colored, this is a tomato. It's a jelly on the opaque side. A richer candy apple red would have meshed better with this collection, IMO.
Orly Poison Apple:
Orly Poison Apple

Orly Enchanted Forest, a kind of dark, solid wall of foreboding blue green fir trees sort of creme. Well done!

Pixie Dust is a bluish grey, almost denim. It's light, and it's a sheerish jelly. This was 4 coats, but you could do three, I probably only needed 4 on one nail. or you could do one for a sheerer look, which would also be pretty! It's got a ton of shimmer, I think it's very nice.

Happily Ever After is a juicy reddish purple with a darker purple shimmer. Very sexy, one of the best of the collection.

I hope I helped you make some decisions regarding this collection!

Every Day an Essie! - Essie Wrapped in Rubies

Wrapped in Rubies is a dark red shimmer, almost a frost. It's a gold shimmer, which is not terribly apparent. Nice!

New NARS Tokaido Express

Picked up a new NARS polish today browsing the Norstrom sale. It's a dark purple, kinda plum shimmer. IMO, there's more sparkle in the picture than in person. It's a pretty, sophisticated polish, the formula is nice, if average, and not hard to control. It has good coverage, picture is 2 coats, no top coat.

But, I think I am gonna stick with China Glaze Lasso My Heart for about $15 less.

Every Day an Essie - Essie Port

Phew this is a fugly polish application job! Was I asleep? Luckily the polish is a nice medium red jelly. You can look at IT, not my mistakes.

Every Day an Essie! - Essie Sexy Divide

Sexy Divide is one of the friggin' weirdest names I've seen in a polish. WTF?? Is this named after spreading your legs????

But it's a nice dark purple shimmer. Just never say the name to me.

Every Day an Essie! Essie Heavenly Sunset

I've got a thing for dusty rose shades. I dunno why. I just do. I think Essie Heavenly Sunset is a particularly nice one. Reminds me of warm evenings by the beach. It's got a very subtle silver shimmer to it, which is nice.

Fun Stuff I've Gotten Lately - Mmmmm Glittery!

I got some good stuff the past week or so in the mail and the drugstore.

LOVE this one! Just enough holo glitter to cause that circular oilslick rainbow, but not enough to be a full holographic.
Wet n' Wild Wild Orchid:
Wet n' Wild Wild Orchid

From the Color Club Femme Fatale Collection, along with Revvvolution, but I wanted this one far less than Revvvolution. Only bought it because it's a holo. Silvers aren't my favorite.
Color Club Worth the Risque:
Color Club Worth the Risque

This has a gorgeous blue and gold duochrome, and it's a unique one because the blue part of the duochrome is lighter than the blue of the base. It makes it look like it is topped with glass. It's very lovely. I don't enjoy the fake blueberry smell it has. It does fade though.
Revlon Not So Blueberry:
Revlon Not So Blueberry

I bought this thinking it might be close to China Glaze's glass fleck No Way Jose. But it isn't really at all. It's too silvery, almost a metallic. But it's pretty, and cheap.
Sinful Purple Diamond:
Sinful Purple Diamond

Gorgeous vampy burgundy with a deep shimmer, both in the base color and a darker purple. I LOVE this.
Sally Hansen Flirt:

But the stars of my acquisitions are the Massinis a friend helped me buy. I utterly adore these!!! They are not holos, just glitters. I wanted these for a very long time and was so excited to have them!
