Month of Zoyas! - Last day of May belongs to Zoya Denise!

It's my friend Denise's birthday today! Happy Birthday Denise! In honor of your our May Month of Zoyas last post belongs to you! Zoya Denise is a lovely deep red shimmer with a hint of purple.

I'd say May's Month of Zoyas was a success, wouldn't you? I know Tyler Durden thinks it was a complete waste of time. He will be disgusted to know we are not done! June will feature Another Month of Zoyas!! Here's to May, and June! Hot nail polish months.

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Milla

Zoya Milla is a medium red jellyish shimmer with a touch of orange. It's a bright fashionable color, it reminds me of shopping and lunch with the girls. In my opinion it's a day polish. Nice!!

Zoya Mattes Sneak Peek!

http://zoyanailpolish.blogspot.com/2009/05/matte-nail-polish-its-baaaack-and-zoya.html

Loredana (ZP498) - all out glam gray
Dovima (ZP499) - striking black
Posh (ZP500) - pinup pretty deep red

I for one am excited! I like mattes, but only in certain colors, rich ones like this collection. I am excited to try these!

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Roxy

Zoya Roxy is one HOT bitch. She's purple, jelly, full of glitter. She rocks hard. I don't think she is first date polish, or wedding polish, or work polish, but I think you'll know when to use her. When you want to look smokin'!

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Colbie

Zoya Colbie is kind of a redder version of Blair or Rihana. It's equally as nice though, and every bit as sexy. I dunno who Colbie is, but despite her name she has a hot polish! I know some people don't like purple hues, well this is your va-va-voom polish!

Zoya Colbie:

New MAC Style Warrior Polishes!

I picked up the three new Style Warrior polishes from MAC's new collection today. Style Warrior seems to be based on strong earth colors and bronzers. While I was not too excited by the collection, or the tanning mousse (darkest one just even now at beginning of summer only gives me a tad of color and later won't do anything) I bought the polishes to try. I have the weird clumpy Solar Bits from last year, and frankly they are not my first choice in any situation, their size and kind of stickiness make them hard to use.

Anyway onto the polishes. Peaceable is a sand colored frost. At $11.00 per bottle I'd sooner get cheaper boring workplace polish. Violet Fire is a sort of very subdued violet purple shimmer. It's kind of smooth and satiny, there's no big bits, it's kinda like just a general shine. I dunno but I suspect this is a rerelease? The last one is a bronze shimmer called Mercenary, which sparkled rainbow in stronger light and sunlight. In my opinion it's the highlight of the collection.

So make your choices, or choices not to buy soon! Likely these will fly out the door too fast like all other MAC limiteds.

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Evangeline

Yummy reddish-pink goodness with a sweet gold shimmer to it. Reminds me of raspberry popsicles. Delicious!! Sexy and summery!

Promised China Glaze/Sally Hansen HD Comparisons

I promised yesterday to compare the China Glaze glass fleck polish type with the Sally Hansen HD liquid crystal polishes. I did two colors, and threw in a "regular" polish for good measure. I am sure you will notice the difference between all three. As suspected, the glass in the Sally HD line is very fine. Too fine, IMO. But you judge for yourself, maybe it was what you were dreaming of!!

Don't Miss Out On These! China Glaze Surf Collection

The China Glaze Surf Collection of glass fleck polishes came out in 2007. If you are new to glass fleck polish or passed it over at the time, you may want to snatch these up. All of the colors, Yell-O-Neil (car parts store yellow with gold glass fleck), Blk-Bila-Bong (black jelly with aqua glass fleck), Orange-Pacific (orange with red glass fleck), Pink Rox-E (baby pink with gold glass fleck), Red-Curl-Grl (red with purply/pink glass fleck) and White-Kwik-Silvr (off-white with clear glass fleck) are still available, except Pink-Rox-E is only available as far as I know on eBay.

These are a lot prettier than they look in the pictures of the bottles. And they are glass fleck!! Snatch them up before they go eBay prices for good. Try Head2Toe Beauty for those still available.

New Sally Hansen HD "Liquid Crystal" Polishes

I ran out and got most of the new Sally Hansen HD "liquid crystal" polishes today. I had hoped they would be similar to my beloved China Glaze glass fleck polishes. Well, not quite.

Sally Hansen High Definition Liquid Crystal Polishes

They have a sort of truncated rainbow of colors in this formula, purple, bright blue, aqua/teal, yellow, orange, medium pink, and fuchsia with purple shimmer. I would have liked a green added to this, and a true red added, or the fuchsia left out for a red. Seriously, how many fuchsias with blurple shimmer are there? 5,672? But the colors are bright and summery and vibrant. I did not purchase the yellow. I bought these for $5.99 each and I couldn't justify orange AND yellow. Edit: Added a picture of a color addition to this Collection, Hi-Def, at end of this post!

The formula for these reminds me of their Insta-Dri polishes. It almost seems to dry as you apply it. The brush is similar too, it has that wide oval plastic stick and while the brush is not rounded at the end, like Insta-Dri, it is similar in width. The polish formula is HORRIBLE. It is simultaneously runny and sticky. It sticks to itself and starts to dry, making it hard to spread evenly. It wanted to stay in strips, and if I pushed it, it made sheer places in the polish. To get even coverage over the sides of the nail I had to deliberately paint my skin in several instances. Luckily it came off the skin easily when removed quickly. They were also very prone to bubbling and imperfections. It was a sticky mess I don't care to repeat, it was not fun applying this polish.

As for the glass fleck effect - well it looks more frost to me. Whether it's the fine grain of the glass, the amount of it added, or other pigments, I do not know, but while this does catch the light, it only has slightly more depth than a frost and looks, frankly, just like a frost. I was disappointed. I dunno what my final verdict on these is, but my preliminary verdict is skip them, buy cheaper polishes with better flash and color, like China Glaze Surfs or Summer Days if you want glass fleck, or "liquid crystal" as Sally Hansen Calls them. On the other hand, they are kinda pretty... but I can buy something better for $5.99.

I'll post a comparison between these and glass flecks later today.

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya America

Sorry this is too late to help you decide what to wear for Memorial Day, but I was thinking what better than Zoya America?

A hot bright medium red creme, America did not have the thick clumpiness many cremes do. I liked it very much. Eye-catching!

Month of Zoyas! Zoya Zara

Mmmmmm Zoya Zara is even more delicious than Malia! Zara seems to me to be a jelly version of Malia, with a lot of gold shimmer thrown in for good measure. It's another one I think can multitask, office for secret bling, or off having fun. It's a fave of mine.

Zoya Rihana is a deep reddish purple shimmer. Merlot? Very sexy. Wear it on your toes!

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Delilah

Zoya Delilah is a hot red jelly with lots of red glitter. It runs a tad, as you can probably see in my picture. It's maybe a bit harder to handle than most Zoyas, but very worth it. It's "dead sexy"!! It reminds me a lot of a more opaque BB Couture Fairy Blood, it's similar but lighter in shade than China Glaze Ruby Pumps. IMO, it's a must have, I adore these glittery reds.

This is more jelly than Tori and has glitter, not shimmer.

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Aria

Since I used Aria in my selection of polishes to go with Chanel Mirage Glossimer, today would be a good day to feature it! Aria was a big desire of mine, and I was very glad to have it. It's a deep rose shimmer with a hint of gold and I really love it. It's a jelly and will require 2 or three coats depending on how much opacity you want. I think 2 is sufficient for me. I think this may be my favorite of the rose/gold shimmers Zoya offers. Maybe.

Zoya Aria:

Chanel Glossimers - Lumieres Celestes

Chanel has a new line out of Glossimers (sparkly lipgloss) and nail polishes called Lumieres Celestes. I got a nice little postcard from Chanel offering a free mini glossimer in Mirage for stopping by the counter. I picked it up, as I really love Chanel lip glosses. And hey it was free, the glossimers are a eye-crossing $27.00 each!

Anyway the polishes with this set are, IMO, lackluster, especially for $23.00. They count among the set Cosmic Violine, which I swear was out quite some time ago, Mica Rose which is a shimmery pink, Dazzling, a chinese red, and Allegoria which looks pink and is not out yet according to their site. I am no Chanel expert, but I am pretty sure at least the first two polishes have been out a while, and I saw Mica Rose a month or so ago. I had Cosmic Violine and was not impressed, too brown for me. I plan to enjoy this glossimer tomorrow!

Chanel Cosmic Violine:

But I did like Mirage. I picked out a small selection of nail polishes to wear with it, with a bit of success. You judge. I picked some darker and some sheerer colors.

Polish of the Day - Color Club Revvvolution

I FINALLY got Color Club Revvvolution. I had no money, then Head2Toe Beauty didn't have it in, then I had no... cycle. Anyway both situations finally came together and now I have CC Revvv. Is it as hot as OPI My Private Jet (original formula)? I say oh heck yes. And even better, CC Revvvolution is AVAILABLE, unlike OPI My Private Jet Original.

Color Club Revvvolution:

OPI My Private Jet (original formula):

I quite like Color Club's formula. Many of the polishes are one coat, true one coat, and they apply well and stay put. Nice and glossy, too! They have some minis, too which is nice, in their One & Done Collection - on Head2Toe Beauty, all of $1.50. Here are three of those:

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Kiki

It's gettin' hot out! Well, it is in Vegas. A toasty 93 degrees in Vegas today. Hot days call for hot polish, and Zoya Kiki will definitely give you that. Typical Zoya formula, which I guess it bears repeating is pretty good. It's fairly uniform unless you get a thicker cream. It's easy to use and generally stays where put.

Zoya Kiki is a blazing pink with blurple shimmer. Fun and noticeable.

Zoya Kiki:

Now on Twitter!

Why? Who knows. But maybe I can wreak more mayhem there. And inform all not on Twitter what might be valuable to know about sales and such. Now I just gotta figure out how to put a Twitter gadget that shows my updates on here.

Mentioned on Zoya's Blog!

http://zoyanailpolish.blogspot.com/2009/05/zoya-nail-polish-wreaks-polish-mayhem.html

Rockage. Only thing better than being mentioned on Zoya's blog is using their polish. There's still several days left in my Month of Zoyas for May, I saved some of the best for last.

Also since I availed myself of the Zoya Polish Exchange myself (every Zoya I have right now was a gift), we can look forward to June's "Another Month of Zoyas", featuring polishes every bit as hot as May's. Remember to follow Zoya on Twitter, as they post periodic sales/events! http://twitter.com/Zoya_NailPolish

Oh and remember if you want to take advantage of Zoya's Polish Exchange and get polishes for $3.00, you need to get your unwanted polish to them by June 1st!

China Glaze Tequila Toes Collection

I get a huge amount of hits on my Flickr account from people looking for pictures of the discontinued China Glaze Tequila Toes glass fleck polish collection. These came out in 2006 and people are still looking for them!!

Here is the link to China Glaze's archive of promotional photos of the Tequila Toes set: http://www.chinaglaze.com/archives/tequilatoes/index.shtml

I have all of the polishes EXCEPT Tequila Toes? Why? I guess I thought it was too similar to another polish and didn't buy it? Translation: I'm dumb.

Anyway, on to the polishes. You know I am crazy nuts over CG's glass fleck polishes. The formula is thick without being clumpy, goes on smooth and even, and stays where it is put if you are careful enough. It's a dream. And when on, it shines from within with glass fleck catching the light. It's simply an incredible polish formula. The Tequila Toes polish colors ARE similar to others, especially the Martini Pedicure glass fleck Collection. But so what. They are beautiful. These can be found on eBay, at who knows what prices.

Month of Zoyas! - Zoya Midori

Zoya Midori! When Zoya advertised the Ooh La La and La Di Da collections, I was expecting all hot brights, some shimmery, some not. Midori is actually a lot like a Granny Smith apple, maybe a bit darker, with gold shimmer. I find the gold shimmer turns it a bit olive. It's a nice polish, I wanted a bright, tart lime with silver, but it's still a pretty polish, and I know a lot of people love green!

A Couple New BB Coutures - Opposites Attract and Zuma Wave Rider

Thanks to Carla, I recieved BB Couture Opposites Attract today. It's nice. It's a dark grey creme with the merest hint of texture from glitter. While I like it, I didn't flip my biscuits over it like I did pictures I had seen. I expected it to be lighter, and glitterier. So, when you expect peaches and life gives you mangoes, what do you do? You go buy a peach tree and grow your own. Or something. So I blended in a few other polishes and got something nearer to my desire (that could still use some more glitter). View both below.

Also, got in BB Couture Zuma Wave Rider, thanks to Carla! Wanted to do an update to let you know I put the picture in BB Couture Beach Collection Part 2 post of April 28, 2009. It's a beautiful light dusty blue creme.
