Halloween Leftover: Ulta Glow Get a Treat OPI Mini Set

Halloween is over, but I picked up this little mini set at Ulta for a whopping $2.99. It has three polishes, a white glow-in-the-dark, a light blue glow-in-the-dark and an orange creme. I have always wanted Boo-Berry, the blue one, so I snagged this set. Now I don't have to pay eBay prices! An added bonus to this pack: these two glow-in-the-dark polishes are by FAR the brightest I have tried, including Sally Beauty, other OPIS, Wet n' Wild, and China Glaze.

OPI Boo-Berry, the blue GITD, is very sheer but I LOVE the color:

OPI Pumped Up Pumpkin is darker orange creme than the Tattoo Ta-Boo orange, and I like it better.

Some More Halloween Cheap Crap from WalMart

Yes, it was time to buy cat litter again! And I was confronted with a few really nice glue on nails at WalMart for $2. These were well made, thin and good sizes. 24 to a box, very nice medium length. They are glue on and come with glue, but I only stuck them on with temporary adhesive to photograph. The coloring is well done, glossy and won't come off. I really hate to shill anything offered at WalMart, but they're so cheap. Now excuse me as I go hang my head in shame.

Color Club Master of Disguise Halloween Themed Mini Nail Polish Set

You know I'm behind minis all the way, especially for Polish Monkeys with tons of polish. There's always a new polish being released somewhere, so why not try a bunch of them as inexpensively as possible? Especially when dealing with themed polishes, such as Halloween sets. I like this set just fine. Only $5.95 at Victoria Nail Supply, that's cheaper than one bottle of OPI bought in a brick and mortar store.

This set gives your obligatory white and black, but the orange is so much more fun than the creme oranges, and they add in a great blue shimmer.

Color Club Master of Disguise, your standard glossy black. Formula just fine.
Color Club Master of Disguise

Color Club Ghost of Chance. Hmm is this Chance's Ghost, or did they leave out the "a"? Anyway this one was gluey and hard to deal with.
Color Club Ghost of Chance

Color Club Abracadabra is a great orange jelly with big ol' gold glitter, so much funner than a creme! So much more holiday oriented! Love this one!
Color Club Abracadabra

Color Club TaBoo! is very much like OPI Ink, which I featured today, except it is lighter and much more cobalt than Ink's navy blue. It has the same great deep purple shimmer, again, like Ink, my camera was unable to capture it. A great alternative polish to throw in this set, and very lovely.
Color Club Taboo!

The funny thing about this set is it lists the four colors as TaBoo! Abracadabra, Ghost of Chance and "Witchy Woman" not Master of Disguise. I am ASSuming it's just a mistake, and perhaps they decided not to name the black Witchy Woman, but Master of Disguise.

China Glaze Spellbound Halloween Set and Fortune Teller!!

It's China Glaze, I don't THINK I need to tell you this stuff is incredibly cool and fun. But I will anyway. It's incredibly cool and fun.

The Spellbound set (I bought mine at Head2Toe Beauty and got them almost instantly, 4 piece set $8.97 or $2.99 each) has four polishes. White Out, which I didn't buy, I am ASSuming is a glossy white cream, and perfectly nice. The other three are:

China Glaze Liquid Leather, which I blogged about during China Glaze for days, which is a great, easy to apply black jelly that shines like patent leather:
China Glaze Liquid Leather

China Glaze Ghoulish Glow is a slightly milky, slightly yellow clear topcoat. I have tried three GITD topcoats so far (will post about others later, already blogged about the Wet n' Wild one here. This one applies just fine, is a bit less yellow than others, and seems to be somewhat brighter than the others, but it fades fairly quickly. Not a bad choice if you want a glow in the dark polish.
China Glaze Ghoulish Glow

China Glaze Spellbound is large orange glitter with medium sized silver glitter in a clear base. It's... like wearing a Las Vegas showgirl on your finger. WOW. This is four coats, it dried fairly quickly.
China Glaze Spellbound

China Glaze Fortune Teller is sold separately, and is basically Lubu Heels but with orange glitter in the black jelly instead of red glitter. So it can't help but be fantastic, right? It's so fantastic even in the bottle, as I was in line at Sally's the woman behind me admired it then went to grab her own bottle. Now that's fantastic.

Halloween's A'Comin'! Break Out the Scary Nails!

I wanted to share some Halloween ideas I have for nails this year! Let's start with an easy to do idea I call MollyHell's Vampire Scratch. I bought some cheap fake nails with round tips, some packs of stick on adhesive, and some of the plastic fingers they call "practice" fingers. All of this cost less than $10 at Sally Beauty. I put the peel off adhesive on the practice fingers to hold the nail, and then lightly pressed on the unpainted fake nail, lightly so you can peel it back off easily. Remember to shape the nail to fit your before you paint it. I made a nail for each finger before I painted them, I made sure to put them in order in a row so I knew which fingernail was which.

For this idea I used Orly Matte Vinyl as a base color, and Butter London Blowing Raspberries for the blood. I chose the matte black Orly because it isn't as nasty as the OPI black matte (Sephora by OPI What's a Tire Jack), because the Orly is a softer texture, and because it has no sparkle/velvet finish to it like the other mattes. You can also, of course, do this with shiny black, such as China Glaze Liquid Leather. After painting the matte black on the nail, and letting it dry (I used two coats) I took the red polish brush and thickly loaded it to dripping. I scratched the top of the nail along the brush to get a thick drop of polish on the tip, then I reattached it lightly to the fake finger, and tilted it so the nail was pointed up, with the red polish dripping down. I left it that way 24 hours. The next day I added a bit of regular glossy topcoat to the red polish, to enhance the shine. The result:

MollyHell's Vampire Scratch

You can fool around with the colors you use, but if you use a very dark base I don't suggest using a jelly as a drip color, as it might not show up enough. I think I'll also try neon green, to be like slime! Have fun, hope you enjoyed my idea.

OPI Tattoo Ta-Boo Halloween Nail Polish Set

It's Halloween! Let's repackage old colors and give them cheesy names! Basically that's this kit in a nutshell.
DSCF4521

There's four mini-size polishes, white creme, black creme, orange creme and a cornflower blue jelly that glows in the dark. Unless you want this set for the Glow in the dark polish, just save your money. Or buy it online cheap - $6.11 at Transdesign. Then you can have the lil tattoo pack. Which will surely change your life.
DSCF4529

Let's start with the only reason to buy this pack, other than you don't have these colors at all and minis would be a good idea. The glow in the dark polish is a sheer cornflower blue. This pic is 3 thick coats and no topcoat. It spreads decently and dries very quickly, like matte polish. It's thick. It glows fairly well, you can see it but nobody is going to stop you and scream "OMG YOUR NAILS ARE GLOWING!!". I like it well enough that it made this pack worth it. It's very grainy.
OPI Glow-Ink In the Dark:
OPI Glow-Ink In the Dark

On to the filler. A black creme, decent formula, no different than anyone else's glossy black really but easy to use. The SCARY name is OPI Witch Arm?:
OPI Witch Arm?

The white is gluey, thick, full of some unnameable chunky glop, and was a real pain in the ass. I hate its guts. It's called OPI I Love Mummy:
OPI I Love Mummy

The orange is called OPI Tattoo You Want Candy and frankly it looks summer citrus to me and not at all Fall pumpkin.
OPI Tattoo You Want Candy?

Whatever, I'd save my cash unless you are already making an order and want the glowing polish.

O! A Daily OPI Continues for October! Plus Giveaway Chatter.

I have decided to extend the O! A Daily OPI! through October, since I have plenty more OPI to post. I think November will be Grab Bag, and December a hiatus as I'll be busy with finals and with the holidays. I have plenty to post about. I have a few Halloween nail ideas to post about this month, which I am excited about. And I will probably do a Halloween giveaway soon. Just don't know what I will give away.

As far as I know all giveaways have been recieved, except the two Retro Diva sets. I sent AdorePink a new Nina Ultra Pro In a Tiff! since hers went missing, and I know she got it, and I have confirmed with other giveaway winners they got theirs. It's satisfying to know I gave someone a little thrill in the mail.

Anyway here's to exciting Fall months, and the winter holidays ahead!!

Today's OPI is Rudolph Red, a nice bright red jelly with glitter, to get us in the mood!

Wet n' Wild Halloween Polishes and Some Crazes

I love Halloween polishes. I love Fall stuff best because I like rich colors and fun stuff like spooky colors, vampies, and glitter. I'll get the OPI and China Glaze stuff in due time but meanwhile I got the Wet n' Wild Halloween polishes, and a few of the Crazes, which I thought were okay but nothing special.

I got all of the polishes except one that was in a special pack, and it was a standard, boring red. I haven't pictured Black Pearl, I will when I find it, but it's just a standard black creme. Wet n' Wild goes on just fine. If anything it's a bit on the watery side. The glitters are sparse and in a clear base, you could put them on all day and not get full coverage. You could wear them sheer, or over something. They're fun, cheap polish. All of these pictures are two coats, no top coat.

Wet n' Wild Black Magic is a fun multicolored strip glitter in a clear base. I SO wish this had more glitter in it, I love strip glitter.:
Wet n' Wild Black Magic

Wet n' Wild Night Glow, a sheer slightly yellowish topcoat, is supposed to glow in the dark. It kinda does, after a fashion, if you look really hard. This is a waste of time and money.:
Wet n' Wild Night Glow

Wet n' Wild Deception looks kinda like if someone put shimmer in dried blood. I totally love this color. I think it's smokin'.:
Wet n' Wild Deception

Wet n' Wild Magical is very fine gold glitter and slightly larger copper glitter in a clear base. I like this, it would make a nice topcoat, or even alone I think it's pretty, even if it is sheer. Reminds me of the new Sinful All About You glitter, same idea of old gold and a bit of copper glitter to give it pop. Sinful is the better choice, IMO, because the ratio of glitter to clear polish is higher.:
Wet n' Wild Magical

They also sell two little bottles of holographic glitter, a silver and a pale rose pink. Nice!!! I'll be having fun with these!:
DSCF4382

The new Wet n' Wild Craze line is basically just cheap polish with a few more contemporary fashion colors than Wet n' Wild usually carries. I only bought a few, the only other one I kind of wanted was a teal shimmer in black, and I have Zoya Akyra for that. They are fun cheap substitutes for more expensive polishes in similar colors. They're fairly basic.

Wet n' Wild Glitz is a hot pink glitter with some blue. The grain is medium, and it's far too sheer. Gets washed out. Not a favorite, and I love glitter.:
Wet n' Wild Glitz

Wet n' Wild Inferno, bright orange with gold shimmer.:
Wet n Wild Inferno

Wet n' Wild Jade, medium green with gold shimmer, pretty standard.:
Wet n Wild Jade

Wet n' Wild Rustic, a nice bronze shimmer. I like this one. Compare it to the much pricier Butter London The Old Bill. This is warmer, prettier, and cheaper.

So run out to your local drugstore now, if ya want'em!!
